Refer to Figure: General view of the pump on page 11 for item numbers in brackets in
the following descripons.
The pumps are two-stage, direct drive, sliding vane pumps. The pump is oil-sealed and
designed for reliable, long-term operaon. The pump is a free-standing unit. The drive is
provided through an Oldham coupling by a single-phase motor.
The motor is totally enclosed and is cooled by the motor-cooling fan which directs air
along the motor ns. The motor is ed with a thermal overload device. When the
motor is too hot, the thermal overload device switches o the pump. The thermal
overload device has an automac reset, when the motor cools down, the device resets
and the motor will restart.
An oil pressure system lubricates the pump sha bearing surfaces and rotor sealing
faces. The pump has an oil distribuon valve which prevents discharge of oil to the
pump interior (suckback) aer the pump stops. The pumping chambers are air-ght, so
this arrangement prevents oil suckback unless the gas-ballast valve is open. For
protecon in this case, refer to Gas-ballast on page 11.
Inspect the level and condion of oil in the oil box reservoir through the sight-glass. An
oil ller-plug is ed to the top of the oil box. An oil drain-plug is ed at the boom of
the oil box.
The pump has a carrying handle, inlet-port, outlet nozzle and gas-ballast control. The
pump is mounted on a steel baseplate on rubber pads. Details of suitable vibraon
isolators and other recommended accessories are given in Accessories on page 36.
