8. Maintenance, Ser vicing and Spare Parts
8.1. Maintenance
In general the EASZ-2 does not require any regular user maintained or service. Occasional visual
inspections are however recommended.
8.1.1. Visual Inspection
When the unit is inspected visually check for any signs of damage to the cables, glands, body, the glass
viewing window or leaking petroleum products.
In the event that the cables or glands are found to be damaged they must be replaced immediately.
In the event that the viewing window is damage it must be replaced immediately.
In the event of a leak of any petroleum products proceed according to valid standards for handling
petroleum products and procedures for dealing with petroleum incidents.
In the event that the unit needs to be replaced in a pipeline with petroleum products ensure the pipeline
is not active and drained, use protective rubber gloves and protect your face using a safety visor.
8.1.2. Internal Inspection
WARNING: do NOT open the unit if energized!
In the event that the cable or glands are damaged and must be replaced then the unit needs to be opened.
This is done by carefully unscrewing the cover from the base.
The glands and the cover are fixed to the base on threaded joints. Whenever a thread is visible ensure
that it is clean and not damaged.
When using EASZ-2Ex, all the threads are flameproof joints. Alterations or repairs are not permitted
to these joints. In the event of damage the unit must not be used and taken out of service.
After carrying out any work inside the unit check all the parts are correctly fixed and before replacing the
cover check that that the seal on the base is in good condition.
When using EASZ-2Ex, it is essential that the seal is not damaged otherwise replace immediately -
Only approved seal can be used. Coat the seal with a suitable lubricant (e.g. MOGUL 2).
Carefully replace the cover making sure that it screws smoothly onto the base and is tighten correctly.
8.1.3. Cleaning
In the event that the unit needs to be cleaned it should be washed manually with a mild detergent and
pressurised water jets must NOT be used!
Commissioning and warranty service of the product can only be carried out by the manufacturer or
persons trained and authorised by the manufacturer, otherwise this will invalidate the warranty.
