FILLING
THE
SALT
CONTAINER
FOR
THE
WATER
SOFTENER
Remove
the
lower
dish
rack
to
give
access
to
the
salt
container
filler
cap.
Having
removed
the
cap,
place
a
funnel
over
the
opening
and
pour
in
about
lkg
(2
lb)
of
water
softener
granular
or
regeneration
salt.
This
is
available
from
larger
hardware
shops
or
builders
merchants.
Do
not
use
domestic
salt
as
this
contains
trace
elements
which
could
affect
the
efficiency
of
the
softener.
Fill
the
container
with
water
(this
operation
should
be
carried
out
during
the
first
salt
filling
only).
After
filling
always
wipe
away
any
excess
salt
from
around
the
top
of
the
container
so
that
the
cap
can
be
replaced
and
screwed
down
securely.
The
salt
will
only
need
to
be
refilled
periodically.
The
indicator
lamp
on
the
fascia
panel
will
remind
you
when
the
water
softener
needs
refilling.
After
carrying
out
salt
refilling
and
topping
up
operations
you
should
carry
out
the
Rinse
and
Hold
programme
immediately.
This
will
prevent
salt
granules
from
lying
on
the
bottom
of
your
machine
for
any
length
of
time.
ADJUSTING
THE
SOFTENER
If
you
live
in
an
area
with
particularly
hard
water,
the
water
softener
should
be
adjusted.
Your
local
Water
Authority
should
be
able
to
advise
you
on
water
conditions
in
your
area.
To
adjust
the
softener:
(See
figure
9)
a)
remove
the
water
softener
cap.
b)
pull
out
the
plastic
bars
(A)
white
and
(B)
red
(Figure
9).
c)
replace
the
plastic
bars
in
the
opposite
locations.
The
white
bar
(A)
is
initially
mounted
on
the
left-hand
side
of
the
water
softener.
We
suggest
that
you
carry
out
this
operation
during
installation
of
the
machine
or
before
salt
refilling.
