12. Adjustment of Stitch Length (“Supermatic”)
Whenthestitchlengthiscorrectlyadjusted,apieceofclothofmediumthicknessplacedbeneaththepresser
footmustnotmovewhenthemachinerunswiththeStitchLengthLeversetatposition"0,"oratthemostonly
advanceveryslightly.
Toadjust(equalize)thestitchlength,proceedasfollows:
Attachpresserfoottopresserbarandinsertneedle.
Placeapieceofclothofmediumthicknessbeneathpresserfootandlowerpresserfootlever.
SettheStitchLengthLeverexactlyatposition"0."
Runthemachineandcheckthatthepieceofclothdoesnot
moveoronlyadvancesveryslightly,inwhichcasethestitch
lengthiscorrectlyadjusted.
Ifthisisnotthecase,adjustthestitchlengthasfollows:
LoosenSetScrewinthefeedcontrollever,whichcanbe
accessedwithascrewdriverthroughanaccessholeinfront
machinebelowthestitchlengthscale.
IfSetScrewcannotbeseenthroughthehole,movethe
StitchLengthLeveruntilthescrewcanbereachedthrough
thehole.ThenreturntheStitchLengthLeverto"0."
RunthemachineandadjusttheFeedControlKeyuntilthe
pieceofclothnolongermoves.
Becarefulnottopresstoohardagainstthefeedcontrolkey
whenadjustingit,becauseyouareliabletomovethestitch
lengthleverawayfromposition"0"onthescale.
TightentheSetScrewafterthisadjustment.
Placeapieceofmediumthicknessclothbeneaththepresserfootandrunthemachinefor10seconds.Thecloth
shouldnotmoveatalloratthemostveryslightlyforwardwhentheStitchLengthLeverissetatposition"0."
