VIDEO HEAD CLOGGING
The video heads are the means by which the recorder places pictures on the tape during recording, and
reads pictures from the tape during playback.
In the unlikely event that they become dirty enough to
be clogged, no picture will be recorded or played
back. This can easily be determined if, during
playback of a known good tape, there is good sound,
but no picture (picture is extremely snowy). If this is
the case, have the recorder checked by qualified ser 
vice personnel.
VIDEO HEAD CLEANING
Head cleaning is needed when the picture on playback gets rough although the picture on program is nor 
mal. This failure signifies that the head is getting dirty and dust adheres to it when playing poor quality or
damaged tapes. To clean the heads, obtain a good quality head cleaning cartridge from your local video
dealer. Be sure to follow the instructions that come with the cleaning cartridge, as excess use can shorten
head life.
NOTE
Video heads will wear out like record needles and should be replaced when they fail to produce
clear pictures anymore.
