Multistage Control
Many heating and cooling systems have one speed;
they are running at 100% capacity or they are o . This is
called single-stage equipment. If you have single-stage
equipment the Multistage Control button will be grayed
out and you can ignore the Multistage Control settings.
Heat pumps with auxiliary heat are considered multistage.
Some equipment may have two or three stages, this is
called multi-stage equipment. Multistage Control allows
you to set when you want the system to go to the next
stage. Starting from the lowest capacity to the highest
capacity. If you have a heat pump, Multistage Control
lets you set the conditions to activate auxiliary heat (aux),
including multistage auxiliary heat.
Below is a brief description of how to interpret the stage
activation criteria:
The previous stage has
been heating for 20 minutes
The previous stage has been
heating for 30 minutes
Auxiliary heat
