Vertical printed lines do not align.
Cause What to do
The print head is misaligned. Align the print head with the Print
Head Alignment utility. See ‘‘Aligning
the Print Head’’on page 8-30.
The printing position is
misaligned.
Make sure the High Speed option in
your printer driver is not selected.
Printing quality is not what you expect.
Cause What to do
The paper loaded is not the
paper selected in your
application or the printer
driver.
Make sure you loaded the correct paper
in the printer and that you selected the
same media type in your application
and/or the printer software.
Make sure you are using paper that
meets the paper requirements for this
printer. See ‘‘Paper’’ on page B-3.
You are not printing on the
correct side of the paper.
Check the paper packaging for the
correct side for printing; then load the
printable side of the paper face up in
the sheet feeder.
The printer driver settings are
not correct.
Check the printer driver settings to
make sure they are appropriate. If
these settings are correct, check your
application because some settings are
overridden by application settings.

for Windows, or Chapter 5 for
Macintosh.
The High Speed setting is
selected in the printer driver.
To obtain higher quality output, make
sure High Speed is not selected.
