variobike 500: Your Partner for Ergometry and Diagnostic
A good choice!
With the variobike 500 you have selected a medical ergometer that will be a reliable partner for ergometry
and precise diagnosis – the variobike 500 is well equipped for data transmission as well as external
control via PC or ECG unit.
Please observe carefully the notes on application possibilities as described in this manual. In this way,
the variobike 500 will be a good, long-lasting partner free from defects and down-times.

Ergometry and Diagnostics using the variobike 500
With the variobike 500 you can select from 10 freely definable ergometry programs. The variobike 500 is
equipped with a revolution indicator for the patient.
The measuring display can be turned 180° so that you can monitor all measured values during the
ergometry, and your patient can also observe their performance in terms of revolutions.
External Control and Data Transmission
Using the variobike 500 in connection with a digital ECG unit or a PC-ECG with ergometry program, you
can achieve a complete ergometry measuring and documentation system.
The variobike 500 is equipped with several interfaces. In this way, data can be sent or received from the
variobike 500 in digital form. As well as pure data transmission from the ergometer, it is also possible to
control the variobike externally via a PC or an ECG. The precondition is the compatibility of the con-
nected unit with the interface protocol of the variobike 500.
For external control, connect your PC or ECG unit to the variobike 500. By starting the ergometry, you
are automatically in PC mode, recognizable in the active displays “Revolution/min” and “Load/min”.
If an external ECG unit is connected for an analogue remote start, a remote start impulse is transmitted
4 seconds before a load alteration.
