1.2 Safety Instructions
Warning:
Patient Hazard, Equipment Damage.
The ergometer variobike 500 is to be exclu-
sively used for ergometry, cardiovascular re-
habilitation observing this operation manual.
If the variobike 500 is used improperly or for
other purposes than described, the manufac-
turer cannot be held liable for any injury to
persons, for damage to property, or any re-
lated serious consequences which may oc-
cur.
Warning:

Do not expose the variobike 500 to direct sun-
light !
Do not use outdoors or in areas where there
is danger of explosion. Avoid using near to
electric power plants.
Warning:
Equipment Failure
The use of mobile phones near the ergometer
is prohibited as this may cause interference.
Cordless phones may however be used. Elec-
tromagnetic interference can be recognized
by fluctuations of the load value displayed. If
the display value alters uncontrolled, although
the number or revolutions is greater than 30 /
min, this can be due to the effect of electro-
magnetic interference.
Warning: Equipment Failure
When connecting the ergometer to other
equipment, use only the special protective
cables delivered by ergoline.

accessories authorized by ergoline.

It is necessary to ensure that no dangerous
ground currents occur as a result of attach-
ing the ergometer to other devices.
Device specifications of the variobike 500 are
in the appendix to this manual. Direct your
questions to your dealer or to ergoline’s ser-
vice department.
Especially at the coupling of several devices
to a measurement system is has to be taken
care, that proper grounding is achieved via a
single power supply, e.g. wall socket.

operated with electrical installations which
comply with VDE 0107.
