with a release cable. To open the hatch, pull the
center of the cable toward the rear of the boat.
The latches will release and the hatch will slide
open. The latches will automatically latch when
the hatch reaches the full open position. To close
the hatch, pull the center of the cable toward the
front of the boat. The latches will release and
the hatch will slide closed and automatically latch
when it reaches the full closed position. Always
make sure the hatch/seat is properly latched in
the full open position before using the upper helm
seat or in the full closed position when operating
the boat from the lower helm. Apply a marine
lubricant to the latches periodically to keep them
operating properly.
Use extreme caution when using the console
steps to access the upper helm. It is possible to
accidently hit the engine control with your foot if
you slip or lose your balance while accessing the
upper helm. Make sure the engine control is in
neutral with the engine shutdown before using
the steps, then restart the engine once you are in
position at the upper helm. You should only use
the upper helm when the seas are calm and the
console steps are dry.
SLIPPING ON THE CONSOLE STEPS CAN CAUSE SEVERE
INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE TO CONSOLE COMPONENTS. IT
IS ALSO POSSIBLE TO ACCIDENTALLY HIT THE ENGINE
CONTROL AND ADVANCE THE THROTTLE IN GEAR WHILE
ACCESSING THE UPPER HELM. THIS COULD RESULT IN LOSS
OF CONTROL, DAMAGE TO THE BOAT AND INJURY TO YOU
AND YOUR PASSENGERS.
YOU SHOULD NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THE STEPS WHILE THE
ENGINE IS RUNNING, WHILE IN ROUGH SEA CONDITIONS OR
WHEN THE CONSOLE IS WET.
ALWAYS MAKE SURE THE ENGINE CONTROL IS IN THE
NEUTRAL POSITION WITH THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN BEFORE
USING THE STEPS TO ACCESS THE UPPER HELM. RESTART
THE ENGINE ONCE YOU ARE IN POSITION AT UPPER THE
HELM.
Do not overload the upper station. It is designed
to hold the weight of only one average-sized per-
son. Weight in the upper station raises the boat’s
center of gravity. Too much weight could make
the boat unstable or damage the frame. Refer to
the Operation chapter for information on the safe
operation of the boat from the upper helm.

11.7 Aftermarket Hardtop
Everglades does not recommend installing an
after market hardtop, Crow’s Nest or upper helm
station. An improperly designed or installed fab-
rication can cause structural damage to the deck
structure and void the Limited Warranty. Ad-
ditionally, Everglades will not be responsible for
any damage resulting from the installation of a
fabrication not installed at the Everglades factory.
If you intend to install an aftermarket hardtop,
upper helm station or Crow’s Nest on your boat,
please contact your dealer or Everglades Customer
Service.
