6.Inspecttheprimarylterfordamagebylooking
intothelterwhileshiningabrightlightonthe
outsideofthelter.
Note:Holesinthelterappearasbrightspots.
Ifthelterisdamaged,discardit.

Filter–KawasakiEngine
•Iftheprimarylterisdirty,bent,ordamaged,
replaceit.
•Donotcleantheprimarylter.
ServicingtheSafetyFilter–Kawasaki
Engine
Replacethesafetylter,nevercleanit.
Important:Donotattempttocleanthesafety
lter.Ifthesafetylterisdirty,thentheprimary
lterisdamaged.Replacebothlters.
InstallingtheFilters–Kawasaki
Engine
Important:Topreventenginedamage,always
operatetheenginewithbothairltersandthe
coverinstalled.
1.Ifinstallingnewlters,checkeachlterfor
shippingdamage.
Note:Donotuseadamagedlter.
2.Ifyouarereplacingthesafetylter,carefullyslide
itintothelterbody(seeFigure30).
3.Carefullyslidetheprimarylteroverthesafety
lter.
Note:Ensurethattheprimarylterisfully
seatedbypushingonitsouterrimwhileinstalling
it.
Important:Donotpressonthesoftinside
areaofthelter.
4.Installtheaircleanercoverwiththesideindicated
asupfacingupwardandsecurethelatches.

Important:Donotoverllthecrankcasewithoil
andruntheengine;enginedamagemayresult.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengage
thebladecontrolswitch,stoptheengine,engage
parkingbrake,andremovethekey.
2.Makesuretheengineisstopped,level,andiscool
sotheoilhashadtimetodrainintothesump.
3.Tokeepdirt,grassclippings,etc.,outof
theengine,cleantheareaaroundtheoilll
cap/dipstickbeforeremovingit.
4.Checktheengineoillevel.
