  If your Exmark Lawn Mower's starter isn't cranking on electric start units, here's what to check: * Make sure the PTO is disengaged. * Confirm the speed control lever is in the neutral lock position. * Ensure the OPC levers are depressed. * Verify the battery has a full charge; if not, charge it. For more, see Check Battery Charge and Recommended Jump Starting Procedure sections in Maintenance. * Inspect electrical connections for corrosion or looseness; clean and reconnect if necessary, applying dielectric grease. * Check for a blown fuse and replace it if needed. * If the relay or switch is defective, contact an Authorized Service Dealer.

Why won't my Exmark Turf tracer HP engine start?

  To troubleshoot why your Exmark Lawn Mower engine won't start, verify the choke is in the correct position (ON for a cold engine, OFF otherwise). Ensure the key switch is in the ON position (15 & 17 HP Kawasaki Manual start & B&S engines only). Make sure the speed control lever is in the true neutral position. Check that the blades are disengaged and the blade switch is depressed. For electric start models, confirm the OPC levers are depressed. Also, check the fuel level and ensure the fuel valve is open. Verify the spark plug wire(s) are properly connected. Inspect for loose or faulty wiring connections, disconnecting connectors carefully. Finally, check for and clean any corrosion at wiring connections using electrical contact cleaner and dielectric grease.

What to do if my Exmark Lawn Mower engine will not start?

  If your Exmark Lawn Mower engine won't start, ensure the battery is fully charged (for electric start models). Also, verify that the choke is in the 'ON' position for a cold engine or in the 'OFF' position. Confirm the key switch is in the 'ON' position (15 & 17 HP Kawasaki manual start), the speed control lever is in the 'true neutral' position, and the PTO is disengaged with the PTO switch depressed. For electric start models, make sure the OPC levers are depressed. Check that there is fuel in the tank and the fuel valve is open. Inspect the spark plug wire(s) for proper connection. Look for loose or faulty wiring connections, and check for corrosion at all wiring connections, cleaning them with electrical contact cleaner and applying dielectric grease if necessary.

  If your Exmark Lawn Mower engine is losing power, here are a few things to check: * The engine load may be excessive. Reduce the ground speed. * The air cleaner may be dirty. Clean or replace the air cleaner element. * The oil level in the crankcase may be low. Add oil to the crankcase. * The cooling fins and air passages for the engine may be plugged. Remove the obstructions from the cooling fins and air passages. * The vent hole in the fuel cap may be plugged. Clean or replace the fuel cap. * There may be dirt in the fuel filter. Replace the fuel filter. * If there's dirt, water, or stale fuel in the fuel system, contact an Authorized Service Dealer.

  If your Exmark Lawn Mower is leaving an uneven cutting height, consider these potential causes: * The blade(s) may not be sharp. Sharpen the blade(s). * A cutting blade may be bent. Install new cutting blade(s). * The mower deck may not be level. Level the mower deck from side-to-side and front-to-rear. * The underside of the mower may be dirty. Clean the underside of the mower. * The tire pressure in the drive tires may not be correct. Adjust the tire pressure in the drive tires. * If the blade spindle is bent, contact an Authorized Service Dealer. * If the tips of adjacent blades are at an uneven cutting height (they should be even within 3/16 inch), replace blades, spindles, and/or check for damage to the mower deck.

  If the blades on your Exmark Lawn Mower aren't rotating, consider the following: * The drive belt may be worn, loose, or broken. Check the belt tension. * The drive belt may be off the pulley. Check the belt for damage and replace if necessary. Install the drive belt and check adjusting shafts and belt guides for correct position. * The deck belt may be worn, loose, or broken. Install a new deck belt. * The deck belt may be off the pulley. Install the deck pulley and check the idler pulley, idler arm, and spring for correct position and function. * A broken or missing idler spring. Replace the spring. * If the PTO clutch does not engage, contact an Authorized Service Dealer.
