Overview

The Fanvil X4G is a VoIP phone designed for business communication, offering a comprehensive set of features for efficient call management. Its intuitive layout and various functionalities make it suitable for a range of professional environments.

Function Description

The Fanvil X4G serves as a primary communication device, enabling users to make, receive, and manage calls over an internet protocol network. It supports multiple lines, allowing for flexible handling of concurrent calls. The phone integrates essential telephony functions such as call holding, transferring, redialing, and muting, alongside advanced features like speed dial and voicemail access. Its design prioritizes ease of use, with clearly labeled keys and a user-friendly interface. The device is equipped with a handset for private conversations, a speakerphone for hands-free operation, and support for a headset for extended comfort and mobility during calls.

Usage Features

Placing & Answering Calls:

To place a call, simply lift the handset, dial the desired number or extension using the numeric keypad, and then press the "Send" soft key. For hands-free calling, press the "Speaker" key before or during a call; pressing it a second time will revert the call to the handset. If using a headset, activate it by pressing the dedicated DSS key located to the right of the keypad. Answering an incoming call is typically done by lifting the handset or pressing the "Speaker" key for hands-free mode.

Ending a Call:

To end an active call, press the "End Call" soft key. If you are using the handset, placing it back in the cradle will also terminate the call.

Redialing:

The phone features a dedicated "Redial" button, located directly beneath the DSS pane, which allows users to quickly redial the previously dialed number. When pressed, a list of previous numbers will appear, and users can navigate this list using the arrow keys and confirm their selection with a soft key.

Call Mute & Unmute:

During a call, the "Mute" key, situated beneath the "0" key, can be pressed to mute your microphone, preventing the other party from hearing you. To unmute, simply press the "Mute" key again.

Call Hold & Resume:

To place an active call on hold, press the designated "Hold" soft key. When you are ready to resume the conversation, press the "Resume" soft key.

Call Transfer:

The Fanvil X4G supports both blind and attended call transfers.

  • Blind Transfer: To transfer the current call to another extension without speaking to the receiving party first, press the "XFER" soft key, dial the receiving party's extension, and then press "XFER" again to confirm the transfer.
  • Attended Transfer: For an attended transfer, press the "XFER" soft key, dial the third party's extension, and wait for them to answer. Once they have answered, you can speak with them before pressing the "XFER" soft key again to complete the transfer of the original calling party.

Joining & Splitting Calls (Conference Calls):

The phone allows for conference calls, enabling multiple parties to join a single conversation. To initiate a conference, while on an active call, press the "Conference" key, dial the number of the party you wish to add, and once they answer, press the "Conference" key again to merge all parties into a single call. The manual also implies the ability to split calls, though specific instructions for splitting are not detailed, it generally involves managing individual participants within a conference.

Speed Dial & Voice Messaging:

  • Setting Speed Dial Numbers: To configure speed dial contacts, press the "Phonebook" key, scroll down to option 6 for "Speed Dial," and then proceed to set up your desired contacts.
  • Speed Dialing: Once speed dial contacts are registered, you can simply exit the speed dial menu and then press and hold the corresponding number on the keypad to call the contact.
  • Accessing Voicemail: To access your stored voicemail messages, press the "Menu" soft key. Navigate to "Applications" (option 4), then select "Voice Message" (option 3). In the Voice Message menu, highlight the appropriate message box and press the "Dial" soft key to listen.

Phonebook & History:

  • Accessing Call Logs: To view your call history, press the "Call Log" button. This will display a list of all made and received calls. From this list, you can use soft keys to redial numbers or save them as new contacts.
  • Accessing Phonebook: Press the "Phonebook" button to enter the phonebook menu. Here, you can edit or add details to existing contacts, manage groups, blacklist numbers, and set up speed dial entries using the arrow keys and soft keys.
  • Deleting Contacts: To remove a contact, navigate through the phonebook to the desired contact, highlight it, and then press the "Delete" soft key.

Maintenance Features

Adjusting Call & Ring Volume:

The Fanvil X4G allows for precise control over various audio volumes.

  • Adjusting Ring Call Volume: To adjust the ring volume, press the "Menu" soft key, navigate to "Settings," then "Basic Settings," and finally "Ring Settings." Within this menu, you can customize the ring type and adjust the ring volume for the headset or the phone itself.
  • Adjusting Voice Volume: To modify the volume during a call, press the "Menu" soft key, go to "Settings," then "Basic Settings," and select "Voice Volume." This menu provides options to adjust the volume for the handset, hands-free (speakerphone), and headset.
