What to do if my Ferris 400 engine will not turn over or start?
- RRick RamosAug 21, 2025
If your Ferris Lawn Mower's engine won't turn over or start, there are several potential causes and solutions: * Ensure the parking brake is engaged. * Verify the PTO (electric clutch) switch is in the OFF position. * Confirm the ground speed control levers are in the "NEUTRAL" position. * Check if you are out of fuel; if the engine is hot, let it cool before refueling. * If the engine is flooded, move the choke control to the closed position. * Inspect and replace any blown fuses. * Clean the battery terminals if they're corroded. * Recharge or replace the battery if it's discharged or dead. * Check for loose or broken wiring, replacing or tightening as needed. * Drain fuel and replace with fresh fuel if there is water or old gas.
