3.6Selectingalocationforthe
transducer
Theguidelinesbelowshouldbefollowedwhen
selectingalocationforthetransducer.
Note:Thetransducerisnotsuitableformounting
onvesselswherethetransomisaftofthe
propeller(s).
Forbestperformancethetransducermustbe
installedinalocationwiththeleastturbulenceand
aeration.Themosteffectivewaytodeterminethis
isbycheckingthewaterowaroundthetransom
whilstunderway.
•Mountclosetothekeel(centerline),inaposition
wherethetransducerelementwillbefully
submergedwhenthevesselisplaningandturning.
•Mountasuitabledistancefromthepropeller(s)to
avoidwake.
•Mountinalocationwherenoloadwillbeapplied
tothetransducerduringlaunching,lifting,trailering
andstorageoftheboat.
•Forclockwiserotatingpropellers,mount
thetransduceronthestarboardside,for
counter-clockwise,mountontheportside.
•Onatwinenginevesselmountthetransducer
betweentheengines.
•Turbulencecanbecausedbyanumberofother
factorssuchassteps(1),ribs(2),rowsofrivets
(3)andstrakes(4).Theturbulenceappearsaft
oftheselocations.
•Airtrappedunderthefrontofthevesselcantravel
underthehullandappearasaerationaft.
•Ifinstallingonthestepofasteppedtransom,
allowsufcientroomabovethetransducerfor
transducerkickup.
