Description
Individual d ata carrier Every hard d isk is used as an individual
disk. If one disk is damaged, all data is
lost.
JBOD (a network of hard disks) JBOD is a network of hard disks
which
does not offer any RAID protec
tion.
The data is stored consecu ti
vely on the
physical disks. The stora
ge capacity
corresponds to the total o
f all capacities of
the individual disks in th
e network.
RAID 0 data carrier
resolution
RAID 0 (striping data carrier) combines
2 or m ore hard disks in one larger data
carrier. T he data is stored on the hard
disks without parity information, and no
redundancy is offered.
The storage capacity corresponds to the
total of all capacities of the individual disks
in the network.
RAID 1 data carrier mirroring RAID 1 copies the data between two hard
disks to enab le data carrier mirroring. To
create a RAID 1 n e twork, 2 hard disks are
required.
The storage cap a city of a RAID 1 hard
disk drive corresponds to the size of the
smallest hard disk.
