3.2 PRODUCT WATER SPECIFICATIONS
The E-Cell Stack
™
will produce 16 MOhm.cm water (MK-2E, MK-2Mini, MK-2MiniHT) or 10
MOhm.cm (MK-2Pharm, MK-2PharmHT), provided the feed water meets the Feed Water
Specifications and the system is operated according to the Operating Instructions.
3.3 SALT SPECIFICATIONS
Proper salt selection for brine injection is critical in avoiding long term problems with scaling
and fouling. The specifications for sodium chloride are as follows:
Sodium Chloride (dry basis) >99.80%
Ca and Mg (as Ca) <0.05%
Copper <0.5 ppm
Iron (as free Fe) <5.0 ppm
Heavy Metals (as Pb) <2.0 ppm
Note:
1. Any salt additive except yellow prussiate of soda (sodium prussiate) at up to 15 ppm in the
salt may contribute to scaling and will void the warranty.
2. “Analytical” grade salt may not meet this spec and is very expensive. Several food grade
salts are widely used in the food industry and are less expensive than “Analytical” grade.
