DIRECT OUT 2 OPERAND: "HYB POTT TX1"
DIRECT OUT 3 OPERAND: "DIRECT INPUT 5" (forward a message from 1 to 3)
DIRECT OUT 4 OPERAND: "DIRECT INPUT 6" (forward a message from 3 to 1)
Signal flow between the three IEDs is shown in the figure below:
Figure 5–99: SIGNAL FLOW FOR DIRECT INPUT AND OUTPUT – EXAMPLE 3
In three-terminal applications, both the remote terminals must grant permission to trip. Therefore, at each terminal, direct
inputs 5 and 6 should be ANDed in FlexLogic and the resulting operand configured as the permission to trip (HYB POTT RX1
setting).
5.8.11 DIRECT ANALOG INPUTS AND OUTPUTS
a) OVERVIEW
PATH: SETTINGS INPUTS/OUTPUTS  DIRECT ANALOGS
The direct analogs feature allows the transmission of analog values between any two UR-series relays that support the fea-
ture. The communication channel is the same as that used for the direct inputs and outputs. When the direct inputs and out-
puts and direct analog features are used together on the same channel, all UR-series relays must all be using firmware
version 5.20 or higher.
Values are transmitted as unscaled floating point numbers. The units for these values are the base units of the FlexAnalog
value (for example, volts, amperes, watts, vars, VA, etc.).
Transmission of values occurs once every 250 ms, defined as the integrity period. Deadband and FlexLogic trigger checks
are performed once per power system cycle. Once a deadband or FlexLogic trigger occurs, the next transmission will not
occur until the next 250 ms integrity timeout.
