9.3. Generator troubleshooting
Malfunction Possible cause Remedy
The generator delivers no volt-
age or only a low voltage
Defective controller Replace the controller
Short circuit in stator windings Check the stator, replace it if nec-
essary
Excessive power protection
switch has tripped
Defect in the consumer or in the sup-
ply cabling
Reset the protection switch. Con-
nect rst the supply cabling then
the consumer. If the protection
switch trips again, have the supply
cabling or the consumer repaired.
Defective protection switch Check the protection switch, re-
place it if necessary
Voltage fall sharply or to zero
when a load is connected
Engine speed too low, or speed con-
troller not working properly
Have the engine adjusted to the
rated speed by an authorised spe-
cialist workshop
Load too high Reduce load
Generator voltage too high Engine speed too high Have it adjusted to the rated
speed, max. voltage 240 Volt
Speed controller defective Replace the speed controller
Generator overheating Generator is overloaded Switch o individual consumers
Check the air supply and discharge
ducts
Ambient temperature too high The generators are designed for
ambient temperatures up to +40°C
