Diagnostic Test 14 / PS (Needle Plate Sensor)
1.
LCD displays only “14” when it has no
needle plate installed.
2. With the zigzag plate installed, the LCD
displays 14 and PS Z and with the
straight stitch needle plate installed, the LCD
displays 14 and PS 3S.
3. The top of the surface of the silver,
microswitch bracket and bottom surface of the
needle plate should be 11.5mm. If an
adjustment needs to be made, loosen the two
2mm hex screws and move the bracket up or
down accordingly.
Note: The SS plate has a tab on the bottom of
the needle plate that presses down on two pins
on the sensor switch. The zigzag needle plate
has a tab that presses down on one pin only
so the machine knows which needle plate is
installed.
