10 Maintenance / Cleaning
10.1 Preparation for Maintenance
Always adhere to the following safety instructions:
Warning Mechanical Danger
Never place your hand inside the valve housing when the compressed air supply is
connected.
Interrupt the compressed air supply therefore directly at the valve by pulling out the
supply hose.
Warning - Danger from electrical current
Switch off all voltage supplies and make sure these are not unintentionally switched on
again.
Warning Danger from hot liquid medium
Make sure that the piping system has been flushed, is pressure-free and has cooled off.
Warning Danger from spring tension
The drive can be dismantled and contains a pre-tensioned pressure spring.
We recommend that the required work be carried out by the manufacturer.
10.2 General Maintenance Intervals
For reasons of ready status and functional safety the double-seat valve and its safety
devices should be continuously checked.
The maintenance intervals are geared to the operating conditions such as switching
frequency, kind of media, process temperature, temperature change, process pressure
etc. For this reason the maintenance cycles should be determined by the user.
It is recommended, however, that the seals always be checked annually and be changed
when necessary (abrasions etc.) In the case of increased temperature load in the
production (>60 °C) and more frequent switching frequency (> 4000/year) these should be
checked every six months. Inspection and maintenance work should only be carried out by
qualified staff.
After completing the maintenance and repair work, prepare an inspection report.
Assemble and secure the dismantled safety devices. Remove tools, foreign parts and
auxiliary materials. Carry out a function check of the valves.
