RF-5800H 150-WATT COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
GENERAL INFORMATION
1.6 GENERAL EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION
The following paragraphs describe the units that make up the RF-5800H 150-Watt Communication System
configurations.
1.6.1 RF-5833H-PA 150-Watt Power Amplifier
The RF-5833H-PA responds to control inputs from the RF-5800H-MP and is operator transparent. It requires either
a separate antenna coupler such as the RF-382A or a 50-ohm broadband antenna.
The RF-5833H-PA has the following features:
• Frequency range of 1.6 MHz to 59.99999 MHz
• Power output of 150 watts Peak Envelope Power (PEP)/Average into a 50-ohm load from 1.6 MHz to
29.99999 MHz and 60 watts PEP/Average into a 50-ohm load from 30.0 MHz to 59.99999 MHz
• Automatic control from the RF-5800H-MP
• Integral power supply, control circuits, and harmonic filters
• Power supply overload protection for the RF-5800H-MP
• Operational status monitored via the control cable to the RF-5800H-MP
1.6.1.1 RF-5245 Internal Pre/Postselector (RF-5800H-V002, -B002, and -TM002 Configurations)
When installed in the RF-5833H-PA, this assembly provides at least 25 dB of preselection in receive mode and
postselection in transmit mode at frequencies removed from the carrier by 10% or more.
1.6.2 RF-5051PS Power Supply
The RF-5051PS provides regulated 28 VDC at 30 amperes from 90 VAC to 300 VAC, 47 Hz to 400 Hz sources. It
is used for the RF-5800H 150-Watt Base Station System.
1.6.3 10497-0360-02 25 MHz Lowpass Filter (LPF) Kit (RF-5800H-V002, -B002, and -TM002
Configurations)
This lowpass filter kit is used to reduce transmitter and receiver interference from 25 MHz and above. Used in a
high-interference or collocated VHF radio environment, the LPF provides a stop band greater than -60 dB from 35
MHz to 90 MHz. The LPF connects directly to the RF-5833H-PA.
1.6.4 RF-382A Automatic Antenna Coupler (Optional)
The RF-382A is a 500-watt PEP/250 watt average fast tune automatic antenna coupler. This unit automatically
matches the output of the RF-5833H-PA to a wide range of whip, dipole, and long-wire antennas over the 1.6 to
29.9999 MHz operating range of the system. After an initial tuning cycle, the tune time of the RF-382A is 25
milliseconds. The initial tune cycle time is typically less than one second.
1.6.5 10497-0870-## Locking Device (Optional)
Figure 1-12 shows the RF-5800H-MP and RF-5833H-PA locking devices. These locking devices reduce the risk of
Receiver/Transmitter (R/T) and Power Amplifier (PA) theft. For information on how to install the locking devices,
refer to the Locking Device Field Installation Instructions (10497-0873-01).
