RF-5800H 150-WATT COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
INSTALLATION
The required voltage for the RF-5800H 150-Watt Communication System is either 90 - 300 VAC, Single Phase for
the RF-5800H 150-Watt Base Station System and Transit Case System, or +22.5 VDC to +30.0 VDC (negative
ground) for the RF-5800H 150-Watt Vehicular System. Maximum power consumption is 1450 VA at full load for
the RF-5800H 150-Watt Base Station system and 20 amperes at +28.0 VDC (per MIL-STD-1275) for the RF-5800H
150-Watt Vehicular System. See Chapter 7 for pinouts of power cables.
NOTE
For Direct Current (DC) operation, the use of power cables
less than 10 American Wire Gauge (AWG) or that are greater
than 20 feet long, will result in significant voltage drops.
2.5.2 Access Clearance and Ventilation Requirements
See Figure 2-1 for RF-5800H 150-Watt Vehicular System (-V001 configuration), Figure 2-2 for RF-5800H 150-
Watt Vehicular System (-V002 configuration), Figure 2-3 for the RF-5800H 150-Watt Base Station System, and
Figure 2-4 for the RF-5800H 150-Watt Transit Case System installation and maintenance clearances. Consider the
following access clearance and ventilation requirements when possible:
• Ventilation clearance of at least 1.5 inches (3.81 cm) behind the heatsink.
• In addition to the clearance shown in Figure 2-1 through Figure 2-4, add 41 inches (104 cm) in front of the
system for maintenance personnel.
• Ventilation clearance of at least 3.0 inches 7.62 cm) above the system.
When adequate space is provided as described above, special ventilation requirements are not necessary.
2.5.3 Vehicular Shock Mount
See Figure 2-5 for the RF-5073VSM Shock Mount dimensions. Refer to Table 7-7 for a list of attaching hardware
included in the RF-5073VSM Shock Mount ancillary kit.
Attach the mounting hardware in the following arrangement:
• Hex Bolt
• Shock mount bottom plate
• Vehicle body
• Flat Washer
• Lock Washer
• Hex Nut
Add a ground strap at one of the four locations between the flat washer and the shock mount bottom plate.
2.5.4 Jumper/DIP Switch Settings
There are no jumper/DIP switch settings required when installing the RF-5800H 150-Watt Communication System.
