Assemble the Circuit
Using a Bacterial Filter In-Line with the MetaNeb® System
The recommendations provided in this section should be used in a
supportive manner and are not intended to be used as primary
instructions for use of the device or the therapy.
Device Performance
The validation of the therapy delivery circuit with the two configurations
described below was completed in Hill-Rom testing labs using a
mechanical test lung.
The testing showed that placing the bacterial filter distal (as
recommended) to the handset and moving the nebulizer distal to the
bacterial filter has minimal impact on the oscillating pressure delivered by
the device.
Specifications of the bacterial filter that can be used with the MetaNeb®
System:
• Bacterial Filtration efficiency: > or equal to 99%
• Viral Filtration efficiency: > or equal to 99%
• Low Flow Resistance: < or equal to 2.0 cm H
2
O at 60 LPM
• Dead Space: 30-50 mL
• Supports any of these Coaxial ISO connectors:
– 22 mm inside diameter/ 25 mm outside diameter
– 15 mm inside diameter/ 22 mm outside diameter
Users are advised to follow the methods of use recommended by the filter
manufacturer (such as the number of treatments or days of use).
