Overview

This document serves as the user's operation manual for the Hisense Air Fry Toaster Oven, models H28EOXS7 and H28EOBS7. It provides comprehensive instructions for safe operation, various cooking functions, and maintenance, emphasizing household use only.

Function Description

The Hisense Air Fry Toaster Oven is a versatile kitchen appliance designed for a wide range of cooking tasks. It integrates multiple functions, including TOAST, BAGEL, PIZZA, BAKE, ROAST, AIRFRY, BROIL, COOKIES, ROTISS (Rotisserie), DEHYD (Dehydrate), FERMENT, and WARM. Each function is tailored to specific cooking needs, offering precise temperature and time control for optimal results.

The oven features a convection fan that enhances cooking efficiency and consistency for certain functions. For instance, the convection fan is integral to the AIRFRY and DEHYDRATE functions, where it cannot be manually turned off, ensuring maximized airflow for crispy and evenly dried foods. For other functions like PIZZA, BAKE, ROAST, BROIL, COOKIES, FERMENT, and WARM, the convection fan is set to default OFF but can be manually activated or deactivated by the user.

Many of the cooking functions, including PIZZA, BAKE, ROAST, BROIL, COOKIES, and AIRFRY, incorporate an Auto (built-in) preheat feature. This ensures the oven reaches the desired temperature before cooking begins, contributing to more accurate and consistent cooking outcomes. During preheating, the display shows "PrE" and the desired temperature, and adjustments to time and temperature are not possible. Once preheating is complete, the oven signals with beeps, and the user can then start the cooking cycle. If no action is taken after preheating, the oven will periodically remind the user with beeps and eventually return to standby mode after 10 minutes of inactivity.

The TOAST function is designed for browning and crisping bread, English muffins, and frozen waffles, keeping the inside soft. It allows for toasting 4-6 slices of bread. The BAGEL function specifically toasts the cut side of bagels while lightly toasting the outside, also suitable for crumpets or thick-sliced specialty breads. For both TOAST and BAGEL functions, the temperature is not adjustable, and the time adjusts automatically with the selected shade level (1-7). The convection fan is not active during these functions.

The PIZZA function is optimized for melting and browning cheese and toppings while crisping the pizza crust. The BAKE function provides even cooking throughout, ideal for cakes, muffins, brownies, and pastries. The ROAST function is perfect for cooking tender and juicy meats and poultry with a perfectly roasted exterior. The AIRFRY function utilizes intense heat and maximized airflow to produce crispy and brown results for foods like French fries and chicken wings. The BROIL function is suitable for open-faced sandwiches, thin cuts of meat, poultry, fish, sausages, vegetables, and for browning the tops of casseroles, gratins, and desserts. The COOKIE function is ideal for baking homemade or commercially prepared cookies, crescent rolls, cinnamon scrolls, biscuits, and strudels, and can also be used for reheating leftovers without drying them out.

The ROTISS function enables rotating roast, specifically good for whole chicken roasting. It requires placing the chicken on a shaft with forks and inserting it into the rotisserie hole. A food tray should be placed at the bottom rack slot to collect oil drips, with some water in the tray recommended for better rotisserie results. The DEHYDRATE function combines low and stable heat with airflow to evenly dry out foods without cooking, making it suitable for drying fruit or vegetable chips. The FERMENT function precisely holds low temperatures, creating an ideal environment for proofing bread, rolls, pizza, and other dough. Lastly, the WARM function is designed to keep hot foods at a recommended temperature to prevent bacterial growth.

Usage Features

The Hisense Air Fry Toaster Oven is designed for user-friendly operation with a clear control panel. The control panel includes a digital display, a FUNCTION knob, a TIME/TEMP knob, a °C/°F button, a convection fan button, and a START/CANCEL button.

Before first use, users are instructed to unpack the unit, wash and dry all racks and pans, and re-assemble them. It is recommended to run the oven at MAX temperature for approximately 15 minutes to eliminate any residual packing oil.

To select a cooking function, the user turns the FUNCTION knob, and the corresponding icons will blink on the digital display. For functions with Auto preheat, pressing the START/CANCEL button initiates the preheating phase. Once preheating is complete, the oven signals, and the user presses START/CANCEL again to begin the cooking cycle.

The TIME/TEMP knob is central to adjusting cooking parameters. Turning this knob allows the user to select the desired temperature. Pressing the knob switches to time setting mode, where turning it adjusts the cooking time. For TOAST and BAGEL functions, this knob is used to select the shade level (1-7). The temperature unit can be switched between Fahrenheit (°F) and Centigrade (°C) by long-pressing the °C/°F button. This button also manually controls the oven light, which serves as a reminder during the last minute of operation.

The convection fan button allows users to manually turn the convection fan ON or OFF for functions where it's not automatically controlled. The START/CANCEL button initiates selected operations or preheating and also cancels any active function, returning the oven to standby mode.

During operation, the digital display shows the selected function, time, and temperature, which may flash to indicate active cooking. Users can adjust time and temperature for most functions during the operation, except during preheating or for specific functions like TOAST and BAGEL where these are automatically set.

Accessories provided with the oven include a Rotisserie handle for removing the rotisserie rod assembly, a Rotisserie fork for roasting meats, an Air fry basket for air frying, a Wire rack for holding food, a Crumb tray for easy cleaning of fallen food particles, and a Food tray for carrying food. The manual provides guidance on where to place these accessories for each function, typically in the middle rack position.

Maintenance Features

The Hisense Air Fry Toaster Oven is designed for low maintenance, with no user-serviceable parts. Users are advised not to attempt repairs themselves and to contact a qualified appliance repair technician if servicing is required.

Regular cleaning is crucial for maintaining the appliance's performance and longevity. Before cleaning, the oven must be unplugged from the outlet and allowed to cool completely.

The cleaning instructions specify:

  1. Unplugging the appliance from the electrical outlet.
  2. Removing the removable Crumb Tray, Rack, and Food Tray. These parts should be washed in hot, sudsy water or in a dishwasher.
  3. Cleaning the interior of the oven by wiping the oven walls, bottom, and glass door with a damp, soapy cloth, then rinsing with a clean, damp cloth, and finally wiping dry.
  4. Cleaning the exterior of the oven with a damp cloth.

Important cleaning precautions:

  • DO NOT immerse the oven in water or any other liquids to protect against electrical shock.
  • DO NOT use abrasive cleaners or metal scouring pads as these can damage the coating and potentially cause electrical shock if pieces break off and touch electrical parts.
  • DO NOT cover the CRUMB TRAY or any part of the oven with metal foil as this can cause overheating.

After cleaning, ensure all parts are thoroughly dry before re-assembling and storing the oven. The manual also advises storing the Electric Oven in its box in a clean, dry place, away from extreme heat or direct sunlight. The supply cord should not be wrapped tightly around the appliance to prevent damage. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons to avoid hazards.

The appliance features a tempered, safety glass door, which is stronger and more resistant to breakage than ordinary glass. However, users are cautioned to avoid scratching the door surface or nicking its edges, as a damaged door should prompt contact with consumer relations before further use.

Overall, the manual emphasizes safety, proper usage, and simple cleaning routines to ensure the Hisense Air Fry Toaster Oven provides reliable service for household cooking needs.
