Overheating (High coolant temperature indicator
is
on)
The
engine is overheating wh
en
the
following occurs:
High coolant temperature indicator comes
on.
Acce
leration becomes sluggish.
If
this occurs, pull
sa
fely
to
the side
of
the
road and perform the
following procedure.
Extended fast idling may
cause
the high
coolant temperature indicator comes on.

nuing
to
ride
with
an
overhea
t
ed
eng
ine
can
cause
serious
damage
to
the
engine.
1.
Stop the eng ine using the ignition switch,
and
then turn the ignition switch
to
the
ON
position.
2.
Ch
eck
that the radiator fan
is
operating,
and then turn the ignition swit
ch
to
the
OFF
position.
If
the
fan
is
not
operating:
Suspect a fault.
Do
not start the engine.
Tr
ansport your motorcycle
to
your dealer.
If
the
fan
is
operating:
A
ll
ow
the engine
to
cool with the ignition
switch
in
the
OFF
position.
3.
After the engine
has
cooled,
in
spect the
radiator ho
se
and
chec
k if there
is
a leak.

to
your

Check the coolant
le
vel
in
the
rese
r
ve
tank, and add cool
an
t
as
necessary
.

If 1-4 check normal, you may continue
riding, but
close
ly monitor the high
coolant temperature indicator.
