SECTION 6
Network Diagnostics
Running Network Diagnostics on the 7847i-E
The network diagnostic process tests the integrity of the links between the 7847i-E and the
receiver to which it should report.
To initiate the network diagnostics, press the [F] key on the 7720P.
NOTE: The test is performed ONLY if a physical link is detected. If no physical link is
detected, the test is aborted and the following is displayed:
No Physical Link
If a physical link is detected, the diagnostics are performed. The following shows the
progression of the test:
Testing CSIP 1
The first step of the test traces the connection to CS IP 1.
Testing CSIP 1
Reached CSIP 1
A successful trace to CS IP 1 is indicated here. See below for
possible errors that may occur at this stage of testing.
Reached CSIP 1
Testing Service
to
CS IP 1, a test of the service

performed. That is, the first test determines if a message can reach
the receiver; this test determines if the connection point (CSIP) at
the receiver knows what to do with the message once it receives it.
CSIP 1
Service OK
The service at the receiver on CS IP 1 is functioning. See below for
possible errors that may occur at this stage of testing.
Testing CSIP 2
The first step of the test traces the connection to CS IP 2 at the
receiver.
Testing CSIP 2
A successful trace to CS IP 2 is indicated here. See below for
possible errors that may occur at this stage of testing.

Testing Service

CS IP 2, a test of the service

the receiver; this test determines if the connection point (CSIP) at

CSIP 2
The service at the receiver on CS IP 2 is functioning. See below for
possible errors that may occur at this stage of testing.
Testing CSIP 3
The first step of the test traces the connection to CS IP 3 at the
receiver.
Testing CSIP 3
Reached CSIP 3
A successful trace to CS IP 3 is indicated here. See below for
possible errors that may occur at this stage of testing.
Reached CSIP 3
Testing Service
After a successful trace to CS IP 3, a test of the service at CS IP 1 is
performed. That is, the first test determines if a message can reach
the receiver; this test determines if the connection point (CSIP) at
the receiver knows what to do with the message once it receives it.
