Example Procedure for Gate and External Arm
For demonstration purposes, you want to set up the Counter so that it
uses an external arm to start a measurement. You want to make a
Totalize measurement on the positive edges (that is, count the number of
positive edges) of a pulse-train signal applied to channel 1. Also, you want
to perform the measurement during an interval of 5 milliseconds as shown
in the following figure.
Perform the following procedure to accomplish this task.
1 Turn on the Counter, and press Stop/Single to put the Counter into the
single measurement mode.
2 Connect the pulse-train signal to channel 1 input, and press Other Meas
key until

 is displayed.
3 Connect an external TTL signal to the Counter’s rear-panel Ext Arm
connector.
4 Press Gate & ExtArm key.
