Verifying a successful installation of the MSR
To verify a successful installation of the MSR:
1. Check Device Manager and verify that the computer has found the MSR hardware and loaded its drivers
successfully.
2. Test the MSR to ensure it is reading magnetic data as follows:
a. Make sure the device is in USB-HID-KBD mode (default for the MSR).
b. Open Microsoft Notepad and swipe a credit card.
c. Verify that data appears in Notepad (the data will be unreadable). If nothing appears in Notepad,
conrm that the MSR is in USB-HID-KB mode.
Testing the MSR in USG HID mode
To test the MSR in USB HID mode, the MSR OPOS driver must be installed. To verify the installation:
1. Launch the MSR OPOS Test utility from Windows start menu.
2. Open, Claim, and Enable [O/C/E] (DeviceEnabled) the device in OPOS or JPOS.
