Off Red/Solid Off If flashing at a 1-Hz rate, an error
occurred and the tape drive or media
may require service or it may require
cleaning. Note the code on the single-
character display, and then go to
Error codes to determine the
meaning of the error codes. If "C"
then it requires that a cleaning
cartridge is loaded.
Off Flashing
(2Hz)
Off Red/Solid Off If flashing at a 2 Hz rate, the drive is
updating microcode.

Off Off Off If flashing at a 0.5 Hz rate, the drive
detected an error and is performing a
microcode recovery. It will reset
automatically

A label is defined as up to three unencrypted blocks written at the beginning of the tape. The Encryption LED will not
illuminate if there is any unencrypted data after that point.

Power should not be removed from the drive until the microcode update is complete. The drive indicates that the
update is complete by resetting and performing POST.
For any condition other than the preceding, the status LED is not illuminated.
The SCD Dot is only illuminated if the Ultrium Tape Drive is both in Maintenance Mode AND there is a
drive dump available.
