2 System Board
Devices on the ISA Bus
System Board Switches The first system board switch sets the frequency of the Processor-Local bus,
and the next four the ratio of processor-frequency to Processor-Local-bus-
frequency, as summarized on page 16
. The next five switches set the
configuration for the PC Workstation, as summarized in the table below.

Refer to “BIOS Update Crisis Recovery Procedure” on page 28 for the
detailed recovery procedure.
Switch: Function:
1 - 5 Bus Frequencies (see the table on page 16).
6 - CONFIG Retain or clear the configuration stored in CMOS:
UP to retain configuration - DEFAULT
DOWN to clear configuration.
7 - PSWRD Enable or clear (and disable) User and System Administrator Passwords stored in serial
EEPROM:
UP to enable passwords - DEFAULT
DOWN to clear passwords.
8 - KEYB Enable or disable “power on” using the keyboard:
UP to disable keyboard power on
DOWN to enable keyboard power on - DEFAULT.
9 - FAN SPEED Allows fan speed to be controlled or to be set at maximum:
UP to have fan speed controlled using internal temperature sensors - DEFAULT
DOWN to set fan speed at maximum.
10 - BOOTBLOCK BIOS Update Crisis Recovery:
UP to disable crisis recovery - DEFAULT
DOWN to enable crisis recovery
