4. Remove the system board (3) by sliding it up and to the right at an angle.
Reverse this procedure to install the system board.
RTC battery

Before removing the RTC battery, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see
Battery on page 29), and then remove the following components:
a. Service door (see
Service door on page 30)
b. Optical drive (see
Optical drive on page 32)
c. Top cover (see
Top cover on page 39)
d. System board (see
System board on page 49)
Remove the RTC battery:
1. Turn the system board upside down, with the front toward you.
2. Use a flat-bladed, non-metallic tool (1) to release the RTC battery from the socket on the system board.
The battery is spring loaded and will pop up.
