Removal and replacement procedures 35
Power redundancy requires the presence of two power supply modules in the system.
CAUTION: The default and redundant power supplies in the server must have the same output
power capacity. Verify that all power supplies have the same part number and label color. The
system becomes unstable and might shut down when it detects mismatched power supplies.
To replace the component, reverse the removal procedure.
Access panel
To remove the component:
WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury from hot surfaces, allow the drives and the
internal system components to cool before touching them.
CAUTION: Do not operate the server for long periods with the access panel open or removed.
Operating the server in this manner results in improper airflow and improper cooling that can
lead to thermal damage.
1. Power down the server (on page 28).
2. Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3. Do one of the following:
o Extend the server from the rack (on page 29).
o Remove the server from the rack (on page 30).
4. Open the access panel latch, slide the access panel to the rear of the chassis, and then remove the
access panel.
If the access panel latch is locked, use a T-15 Torx screwdriver to unlock the latch.
To replace the component, reverse the removal procedure.

expansion slot covers, or blanks installed. If the server supports hot-plug components, minimize
the amount of time the access panel is open.

2. Remove all power:
