Before removing the service cover, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and
then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 45).
Remove the service cover:
1. Position the computer upside down on a flat surface with the front toward you.
2. With the battery bay toward you, slide the service cover release latch to the left (1), and then remove
the optional screw (2).
3. Slide the service cover release latch to the left again (3), slide the service cover forward (4), and then lift
to remove the service cover (5).
NOTE: If you do not want to use the optional screw, you can store it inside the service cover.
Reverse this procedure to install the service cover.
