NOTICE
Fan modules are hot swappable. When replacing a fan module, insert the new fan module
within 1 minute.
NOTE
The procedures for replacing a fan module in different routers are the same. The following procedure
replaces a fan module in an AR2240 router.
Tools
l Phillips screwdriver
l ESD wrist strap
Procedure
Step 1 Wear an ESD wrist strap. Ensure that the ESD wrist strap is grounded and in a close contact
with your wrist.
Step 2 Remove the old fan module.
1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the captive screws on the fan module.
2. Grasp the handle of the fan module and pull out a part of the fan module. Wait until the
fans stop running, and then pull the fan module completely out of the chassis.

Step 3 Install a new fan module.
1. Hold the handle of the fan module with one hand and support the bottom with the other
hand. Slowly push the fan module into the slot along the guide rails, until the fan module
is completely attached to the backplane.
2. Use the Phillips screwdriver to tighten the captive screws on the fan module.
