Use these instructions to remove and replace the service access cover on an IBM Power System E950
(9040-MR9) system so that you can access the hardware parts or perform service.
Removing the service access cover from a 9040-MR9 system
Use this procedure to remove the service access cover from an IBM Power System E950 (9040-MR9)
server.
Before you begin
Attention:
Operating the system without the cover for more than 30 minutes might damage the
system components.
Procedure
1. Ensure that you have the electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap on and that the ESD clip is plugged
into a ground jack or connected to an unpainted metal surface. If not, do so now.
2. Complete the following steps to remove the cover.
Attention:
Operating the system without the service access cover on for more than 10 minutes
when the system power is turned on might damage the system components.
