BASIC
OPERATION
3
CALL
PROCEDURES
You
must
identify
yourself
when
you
transmit
and
you
must
respect
time
limits.
1)
Give
your
call
sign
each
time
you
call
another
vessel
or
a
coast
station.
If
you
have
no
call
sign,
identify
the
station
by
giving
the
vessel
name
and
the
name
of
the
license.
2)
Give
your
call
sign
at
the
end
of
each
transmission
that
lasts
more
than
3
minutes.
3)
You
must
pause
and
give
your
call
sign
at
least
once
every
15
minutes
during
long
ship-to-shore
calls.
4)
Keep
your
calls
short
(less
than
3
minutes).
Wait
2
min-
utes
before
repeating
a
call.
5)
Unnecessary
transmissions
are
not
allowed.
TIME-OUT
TIMER
(U.S.A.
version
only)
The
transceiver
has
a
time-out
timer
function
to
prevent
continuous,
long
transmissions.
Transmit
is
automatically
inhibited
after
5
min.
of
continuous
transmission.
