beneaththeboat,underthewaterlineonthehullistherawwaterpick-up.Evenwhenboat-
ingonclean-appearingbodiesofwater,acheckofthispick-upshouldbedoneafterevery
outingtodetermineifthereisanydebris.Thisshouldberinsedwithfreshwater
priortostorage,evenofshortduration.Itwillbeeasiertocleanfollowinganouting
thanwaitingandpossiblyallowingdebristodry.
Placeaflushingdeviceontherawwaterpickuponthebottomofthehull.Turnthegarden
hoseONandstarttheengine.

• Cycleenginespeedfromidleto2000rpmin10-secondintervals,allowingtheengine
toreachoperatingtemperature.Theengineneedstobeatitsoperatingtemperaturefor
fifteen(15)minutes.Thegardenhoseflowratemayneedtobeadjustedifenginewillnot
warmup;itmustwarmuptoopenthethermostat,whichisrequiredforproperflushing.
Iftheenginewillnotwarmup,removethermostatandflushenginewithfreshwater
forfive(5)minuteswhilecyclingtheenginespeedfromidleto2000rpmin10-second
intervals.
• Freshwaterboatsshouldbeflushedwhengoingtostorageornotbeingusedforperiods
inexcessofonemonth.
• Salt water boats should be flushed with fresh water after every use.Boat-
in-waterflushingcanbeachievedwithaflushingdevice.Theseacockwillneedtobe
closedwhilesupplyingfreshwatertotheinletoftheseapumpandallowingittocircu-
latethroughtheengine.Theenginemustreachoperatingtemperatureforaminimum
offive(5)minutestoallowthethermostattoopenandcirculatefreshwater.
