Proper storage and/or winterization preparationsareasimpor-
tantashowadrivetrainismaintainedinuse.Sincespecialpreparationsarenecessary,the
boatownershouldhavetheworkdonebyanILMOR-authorizeddealer.Damagethatoc-
cursfromimproperstorageand/orwinterizationisnotcoveredunderwarrantyandmust
beavoided.
Enginewinterizationrequiresaddingafuelstabilizerandbiocidetothefueltank/sys-
tem,changingtheengineoil/filter,drainingallrawwaterfromthecoolingsystem,and
addingmarine/RVanti-freezetoallrawwaterenginecomponents.
Damage due to improper storage and/or winterization preparations is not cov-
ered under warranty. Owners are encouraged to seek assistance from an authorized
ILMOR dealer to properly prepare the drive train for periods of inactivity exceeding
two (2) weeks.
This preparation needs to be done prior to removing water from the engine, if that will be part of
the process.
Boats that are going to be storedforextended
periods(morethantwo[2]weeks)orwinterizedshouldhaveatten-
tionforthefuelsystem.EvenTOPTIERgasolineswillexperience
someseparationofelementsandsettlingduringtheseperiods.Of
considerableconcernisthatwatercondensationwilloccurwithin
thefuelsystem,andwaterisanenemyofgood-startingandrunning
enginefuelsystems.Therefore,followthisprocedure:
•Thefueltankshouldbeninety-to-ninety-fivepercent(90-95%)
fullofTOPTIERgasoline.Thisallowsforminimalroominwhich
aircanoxygenatethefuelduringdiurnalcycles(dailyperiodsof
expansion/contractionofgasolinevaporsandairasaresultoftem-
peraturechanges).Astemperaturesriseinthetank,thepressure
alsorise, pushingoutgasoline vapor-and-airmixtures.Whenthe
temperaturefalls,pressurelowersandthesystemwillseektodrawfreshairandwatervapor
(dependingonthehumiditylevel)intothetank.Freshairisreplacedwith“lightends,”which
arelow-boilingcomponentsthatvaporizeatambienttemperatures.Lightendsarerequired
duringcoldstartstovaporizethefuel.Sincethedailydiurnalcycleseliminatethelightends,
anearlyfulltankhelpstominimizetheairvolumeenteringthesystem.

FuelBiocideinthefueltanktolimitmi-
crobialgrowthingasoline.Followthedirectionsprovidedbythestabilizer’smanufacturer.
• Addafuelstabilizer,suchasSta-Bil
