If steam gushes from the steam release valve when the quick release button is in the Seal position on your Instant Pot Electric Pressure Cooker, it could be due to several reasons. First, ensure you have added enough thin, water-based liquid to the inner pot, using 1 ½ cups (375 mL /~12 oz) for a 6 Qt and 2 cups (500 mL /~16 oz) for an 8 Qt model. Alternatively, the steam release valve may not be seated properly, so try flicking the quick release button to ensure it is in the Seal position. If these steps don't resolve the issue, there may be a pressure sensor control failure, and you should contact Customer Care.
