Introduction
The EasyCoder F4 is a sturdy medium-duty direct thermal/thermal
transfer printer with a printhead resolution of 8 dots per mm
(203.2 dots per inch) and a maximum print width of 104 mm
(4.095 inches).
The EasyCoder F4 is delivered with the Intermec Fingerprint
programming language installed. However, you can easily convert
the printer to run the Intermec Programming Language (IPL-3). Just
insert an optional IPL fi rmware card into the memory card slot in the
printer’s rear plate, as descibed in Chapter 3, “Starting Up.”
This manual describes the IPL version after conversion from the
Fingerprint version. Mechanically, the IPL version is identical to the
Intermec Fingerprint version, but a few options are not supported
by IPL, for example:
• Optional serial interface boards
• Electronic keys
• Memory cards (except for fi rmware upgrading)
• EasySet Bar Code Wand
• Real Time Clock Circuit
The IPL version can be converted back to Intermec Fingerprint
version simply by inserting an Intermec Fingerprint fi rmware card
in the memory card slot.
In most aspects, the EasyCoder F4 IPL version is compatible with
other IPL printers from Intermec. Please refer to Appendix 4 for a
list of supported IPL commands.
