Section IV – System Operation
4.0 System Operation
Now that the system has been set up and congured, it is ready for use. This chapter provides details on how to
use the Iridium Pilot system.
4.1 Data Operation
Prior to operation, the Iridium Pilot unit must be installed, provisioned, and switched on.
All status lights should be nominal.

and access to the service has been granted. If the unit has been denied access then the lights will be amber.
Accessing the Web
As long as your data port is provisioned and the proper physical connections made, access the Internet simply
by starting your web browser. The IBSU allows you complete functionality to upload and download data, web
pages, and email. Note: Large les or graphic intense web pages will take longer to transfer or display.
Note: Conguring the system and full diagnostics can only be done by the System Administrator and requires
a login password. The default user name and password is “admin”. Change the password if desired.
Important
The Iridium Pilot unit supports “connect on demand” and will make a connection across the Iridium network if
a data device tries to access an address outside the local area network. It is the user’s responsibility to secure
the system from outside access. Ensure proper security (e.g.: rewall, virus protection, encryption) is in place
before using the system.
