single layer with a tear-away backing, if necessary.

Pattern No.23 can be used to attractively finish the edges
of collars, pockets and place mats.
To edge a collar, place interfacing between upper and
under collar and sew the pattern on the seam line.
After sewing, trim fabric close to stitching, taking care not
to cut thread.
