26. Turn off the machine before cleaning. Use a
brush or compressed air to remove chips or
debris — do not use your hands.
27. Do not stand on the machine. Serious injury
could occur if the machine tips over.
28. Never leave the machine running unattended.
Turn the power off and do not leave the
machine until it comes to a complete stop.
29. Remove loose items and unnecessary work
pieces from the area before starting the
machine.
30. Don’t use in dangerous environment. Don’t
use power tools in damp or wet location, or
expose them to rain. Keep work area well
lighted.
31. Check the workpiece carefully for splits, knots
or other obstructions which may cause a
safety risk while turning.
32. Adjust tool rest to proper height and position
for the work. Rotate the workpiece by hand to
check clearance with the tool rest before
turning on the machine.
33. Select the appropriate speed for the turning
job at hand. Allow the Lathe to ramp up to
operating speed.
34. Never stop a rotating workpiece with your
hand.
35. If gluing up a workpiece, always use a high-
quality glue of the type necessary for that
particular workpiece.
