12 Operating Instructions—IFC-200 Operating Instructions
The IFC-200 performs an automatic test of each detector every two hours.
Failure to meet the test limits causes an AUTO TEST FAIL trouble
type. SYSTEM RESET clears this trouble.
The IFC-200 monitors hardware device type codes at intervals. If the type
code and program do not match, a point trouble occurs. The trouble label
is INVALID TYPE.
The IFC-200 includes a global program selection to prevent detector LEDs
from blinking during normal conditions. This feature is beneficial in
sleeping areas, where the flashing light may be objectionable. As a
standard function, the IFC-200 allows up to 99 LEDs to turn on during
alarm conditions.
The IFC-200 performs alarm verification on selected intelligent smoke
detectors (1551J and 2551J only). Selection of detectors for alarm
verification is described in the IFC-200 Programming/Status Change
Technical Bulletin in this manual. The verification time is a global
program selection of 0 to 60 seconds. Each detector includes a
verification counter, which displays the number of times that detector
entered verification but did not time-out to alarm. The counter counts
to 99 and holds. Only clearing the history or setting the detector into
alarm clears the counter. Refer to Clear Verification Counters in the
IFC-200 Programming/Status Change Technical Bulletin.
If an 2551J, SDX-551TH, or 1551J detector exceeds the programmed
Alert level, it causes an Alert prealarm situation. When this occurs, the
piezo is activated, Zone 99 is activated, and the Prealarm LED is
illuminated. The following typical message is sent to the LCD, LCD-80,
printer, and history file:
PREALM SMOKE (PHOTO)
ROOM 5024
0.50%, 1.00%, ALERT
11:13A 12/25/94 D66
In this example, the detector is programmed for alarm at 1.00% per foot,
and has now reached the alert level programmed for 50% of that, or 0.50%
per foot. The 0.50% is a realtime display and may change. Alert
prealarms automatically restore.
