A battery may burst andrelease hazardous decomposition products whenexposedto fire.
Lithium polymer batteries containflammableelectrolyte that may vent, ignite andproduce
sparks whensubjected to hightemperatures (›150°C/302°F), whendamagedor abused(e.g.
mechanicaldamage or electricalovercharging),may burnrapidly withflare-burning effect; may
igniteother batteries inclose proximity.
Any person respondingto suchan emergency shouldwear a self-contained
breathingapparatus.
Burning lithium polymer batteries producestoxic and corrosive lithium
hydroxide fumesandsulfur dioxide gas.
