RFID Reader
The Mesa Rugged Notepad
with an UHF RFID Reader and
RFID Connector
utility allows you to read UHF EPC Gen 2
RFID tags and easily import tag data into standard or custom
programs running on the Mesa.
Using the RFID Reader
To use the Mesa with the RFID reader, follow these steps:
1. When the Mesa is turned on or power is applied, the
RFID Connector
utility automatically opens. If it doesn’t,
open it from the Mesa Home screen by selecting the RFID
Connector icon
.
2. From the RFID Connector
utility screen, select RFID
Setup. Congure the RFID seings as described in the next
section.
3. Minimize the RFID Connector
utility to see the Home
screen. Open a document to receive the RFID tag data.

Word Mobile,
and Notes are provided on the Mesa. Custom soware can
be used.
Note: If the application you want isnt shown on the Home screen,
tap the Windows so key
to view and select an application.
4. Put the cursor where you want the tag data to be placed in
the document.
5. Adjust the Mesa hand strap as needed. When you are
reading tags, you might want to tighten the strap on your
hand to make it easier to use.
6. The RFID antenna is located inside the top rubber bumper.
It is a linear antenna. Aim the antenna in the general
direction of the tag. The orientation of the reader and the
