CAUTION: To prevent electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage to the transceiver, do
not touch the connector pins at the end of the transceiver.
7. Using your fingers, grasp the body of the transceiver and pull it straight out of the port.
8. Place the transceiver in the electrostatic bag or on the antistatic mat placed on a flat, stable surface.
9. Place the dust cover over the empty port.
Disconnecting a Fiber-Optic Cable from a PTX10000 Router
The PTX10000 Series has field-replaceable unit (FRU) optical transceivers to which you can connect
fiber-optic cables.
Before you disconnect a fiber-optic cable from an optical transceiver installed in the PTX10000 Series,
ensure that you have taken the necessary precautions for safe handling of lasers (see Laser and LED Safety
Guidelines and Warnings for the PTX10008 and PTX10016).
Ensure that you have the following parts and tools available:
Rubber safety cap to cover the transceiver
Rubber safety cap to cover the fiber-optic cable connector
