Decide the mounting location.
You can install controllers on a
desk, a level surface, in a rack
or cabinet, or on a wall. Ensure
that you provide sufficient
clearance around the mounting
location.

Environmental Requirements and Specifications for WLC100 Wireless LAN Controllers
You must mount the WLC100 controller in a rack or cabinet housed in a dry, clean,
well-ventilated, and temperature-controlled environment.
Ensure that you follow these environmental guidelines:
•
The site must be as dust-free as possible, because dust can clog air intake vents and
filters, reducing the efficiency of the cooling system.
•
Maintain ambient airflow for normal operation. If the airflow is blocked or restricted,
or if the intake air is too warm, the controller might overheat, leading to the temperature
monitor shutting down the controller to protect the hardware components.
Table 9 on page 19 summarizes the required environmental conditions for normal
operation.
