Drive prole Species how an electrical drive is operated via a eld bus. It denes the device behaviour
and the access method for the drive data. The following sub-areas are dened:
Control and status monitoring
Standardised parameter conguration
Changing operation modes
AT Drive telegram, data from the drive to the master (status, actual values)
DriveManager 5 (DM5) PC software from KEBA for (initial) commissioning and process diagnostics on the devices
in the ServoOne family
ENPO Hardware enable
F-SMA Fibre optic cable connector type
IDN Ident number S-x-yyyy or P yyyy
32 bits are available to represent a Sercos III ident number..
MDT Master Data Telegram, data from the master to the drives (control word, reference values)
MST Master Synchronisation Telegram, is used for drive data synchronisation to the μs using the
time slot process
LWL Fibre optic cable
Phase 0.4 Sercos communication phases
0 = Fibre optic cable ring closed by master (reception of MST)
1 = Master identies all slaves/drives in the ring
2 = Parameter conguration mode, from phase 2 the service channel is in operation
3 = Time slots are maintained, cyclic data still not valid
4 = Cyclic operating mode, reference values applied, actual values transferred
RAM Random Access Memory
Repeater Electrical (or also optical) signal amplier or signal conditioner to increase the range of a
signal. Is used to condition signals for connecting the individual bus segments.
Slave A slave is a device on the bus which, in contrast to the master, responds only to the
requests directed to it.
SERCOS SERial Realtime COmmunication System. Standardised process for real-time communica-
tion between controllers and drives according to DIN/EN61491.
SE Structure element
SI Structure instance
STO Safe Torque Off
SVC service channel Superimposed protocol in the telegrams. Sequential parameter values, attributes, scaling
and names can be transferred.
Transfer can also be parallel with the time-critical cyclic data (MDT, AT) in phase 3
and 4.
Services for operation mode acquisition, setting parameters, conguration and diagnostics
are available with the service channel.

TCP/IP Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
TIA Totally Integrated Automation.
Cyclic data Synchronous transfer of the MDT, AT from phase 3, valid from phase 4
